-
Specializing in product development based on a user-centered design approach and encompassing the process from initial user research through full engineering documentation and pilot production support.
-
Specializing in complex mechanisms, electromechanical packaging, structural analysis with extensive experience in medical devices and its quality systems.
-
extensive track record of creative mechanism designs and development in surgical instruments and industrial machinery, electromechanical packaging (including embedded RF transceivers), high appearance consumer electronics.
-
actively maintain a large base of vendor relationships for specialty fabrication processes, quickturn prototyping, volume manufacturing and assembly, quality systems, electronic design/build
-
Over twenty years experience in 3D CAD - SolidWorks and Pro/Engineer and in cooperative efforts with Industrial Designers skilled in User-Centered Design principles.
-
Fully experienced in a range of manufacturing and prototyping technologies including injection-molded plastics, sheetmetal fabrication, machining, casting, weldments, etc.
Some Key Achievements:
-
generated initial concepts through documented detailed design, development and testing of complete redesign of existing laparoscopic electrosurgical cutting forceps for enhanced function, improved ergonomics and reduced manufacturing costs by more than 10%.
-
developed a new negative pressure wound therapy system utilizing a power efficient pump design in combination with super-absorber and hydrogel gasket technology in the dressings to enable patients to be ambulatory, greatly improving quality of life and reducing wound healing time in some cases by 50%.
-
designed completely new handle for a steerable RF ablation catheter enabling 50% lower force to the surgeon's hand and more consistent “feel” to aid in positioning catheter tip to treat cardiac arrhythmias.
-
designed, structurally optimized and oversaw fabrication of a large-scale (24' diameter) tilting turntable machine for training athletes in skating crossover strides
-
designed welded structure, door mechanisms, ventilation, communication panels and complete requirements specification for a personal rapid transit concept vehicle cabin
